Pick the order

Rank every crew in the field 1 → N. Score comes from how close you are to the actual finish, with bonuses for getting crews on the right side of the semifinal and final cutoffs (set per race), and podium bonuses for nailing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The JV or Varsity subscriber with the highest score in each boat class wins a gift card.

How scoring works(click to expand)

Every crew you rank contributes points to your total. Three things matter:

  • Proximitymax(0, 20 − |your rank − their finish|). Nail the place: 20 pts. One off: 19. Twenty or more off: 0.
  • Bucket bonus — +5 if you put a crew on the right side of the top-12 semifinal cut, +10 for the top-6 final cut.
  • Podium bonus — exact match on the podium: +50 for 1st, +30 for 2nd, +20 for 3rd. +5 each for getting 4th, 5th, or 6th exactly.
Worked example
You rank a crew 1st, they finish 1st:
20 proximity + 10 final bucket + 5 semi bucket + 50 podium = 85 pts from that one crew.
You rank a crew 5th, they finish 9th:
16 proximity (5 off → 20−4) + 5 semi bucket (both inside top 12) + 0 final bucket (you said in, they were out) = 21 pts.

Ties are broken by smallest total absolute error. Crews with no finish (DNF / scratched) score 0 for that slot.

Contest rules

Entry requires a JV or Varsity subscription to Rowing Power Index. Scoring is based on the predictive accuracy of your submitted ranking against the official race results; the highest-scoring eligible participant in each boat class wins. Ties are broken by smallest total absolute error.

Prizes are awarded as digital gift cards. The prize pool starts at $50 per boat class once 20 participants have entered, and increases by $10 for every 16 additional participants. No prizes are awarded for any boat class unless at least 50 new JV or Varsity subscribers have joined since the contest opened.

Void where prohibited. Open to legal residents of jurisdictions where skill-based contests are permitted. Operator reserves the right to modify the field, cancel the contest, or substitute prizes of equal value. Winners are responsible for any taxes or fees.
